…..Camp Commandant, Okpor Daniel Flood Victims Commends The Leadership of FERUK Humanitarian Foundation Leadership As International NGO Visits ICE IDP Camp In Asaba.

As part of efforts to fulfill the mission and vision statement of a leading, reputable International Non-governmental Organization based in Delta State whose thematic areas are: To provide support to the needy, less-privileged citizens, to empower, promote SDGs 1, 2, 3 (Zero hunger, No Poverty And Good Health) for Socio-economic and Sustainable development of Deltans and Nigerians in general, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Feruk Humanitarian Foundation, Okoro Aghe Anthonia, has called on critical stakeholders, Nigerians to give the little they have to the needy for the society to be a happy place to live.

Okoro Aghe Anthonia made this call on Thursday, 27th day of October, 2022 as the leadership of Feruk Humanitarian Foundation made a visit to Flood victims in Delta State at ICE IDP Camp In Asaba Delta State capital as NGO consoled, prayed for victims at the camp.

You could recall that in earlier this month, precisely October 8, 2022 the news on ravaging effects of flood as a natural disaster broke out in Nigeria as people lost their dear ones that claimed over 600 lives, millions of Nigerians were rendered homeless, valuables, properties and goods worth Billions of naira were destroyed by the ravaging effects of floods. Deltans were not left out as communities were submerged, 19 Local Government Areas of the State’s 25 LGAs were effected as people were rendered homeless, valuables, properties destroyed; reptiles, snakes and other dangerous animals emerged in peoples homes.

As part of efforts to mitigate, prevent and control the flood menace towards supporting the Flood victims, Delta State Government earlier this month of October, 2022 had moved into action by setting up 10 Internally Displaced Persons Camps (IDP Camps) in the affected Communities; set up committees, provided relief materials; foodstuffs, and other measures adopted so as to give comforts, cushion the effects of the ravaging floods on the victims. Non-governmental Organizations, Corporate Organizations and other critical stakeholders are not left out in a bid to put smiles in the faces of the victims.

The Camp Commandant at ICE IDP Camp In Asaba, Mr. Okpor Daniel has Commended the efforts made by Delta State Government to contain the ugly situation caused by flood menace as many Deltans were rendered homeless, properties, valuables, Agricultural produce were destroyed. He stated that Delta State Government had ensure that the victims of flood have a place and other relief materials to cushion the effects of the menace. He thanked the leadership of Feruk Humanitarian Foundation for coming to identify with the victims at their IDP Camp as Foundation Commiserates, supports flood victims with gifts, foodstuffs as relief materials to put smile in their faces, make them comfortable in Asaba at the IDP Camp.

Okpor reacting to the Humanitarian gesture of Feruk Humanitarian Foundation, he said: “Government has done a lot and cannot do this job alone. I must commend Feruk Humanitarian Foundation for this Philanthropic services, gesture at this critical times like this. People’s homes were submerged by flood and you have come to support the victims”.

“Even if is only tissue paper, a cup of rice or beans you have done your best. We need good spirited persons to support like your organization. Your organization has done great for the victims. We were thinking of going to the market, and the things we thought of were the things your organization brought, gifted to the victims. Look at the beautiful things you brought, bags of Sweet Potatoes, bags of rice, bags of beans, a good number of sachets of indomie, Noodles, bags of pure water, and other cooking items to mention but a few”.

The Chief Executive Officer, Feruk Humanitarian Foundation, Okoro Aghe Anthonia had enjoined Nigerians to look into the side of the less-privileged Citizens. She said: “They need our help. We should try to help. We should give them the little we have. Let’s support the less-privileged Deltans, Nigerians with what we have”.

The National Secretary of Feruk Humanitarian Foundation, Pastor Kelechukwu Soba, had also lend his voice on the need for Deltans, Nigerians to support the flood victims so as to feel happy as part of the society with the little they have as he commended the entire workers, staff at the camp for their humanitarian services.

Mrs Amaka Nwafor of powerline Community who spoke on behalf of the victims had thanked the leadership of Feruk Humanitarian Foundation for remembering them, for the Foodstuffs and other gifts the Foundation has brought for them to cushion the effects of the flood menace and support them at this trying times. The leadership of Feruk Humanitarian Foundation after Commiserating with the victims, also encouraged them that the storm will be over as Foundation promised to give them empowerment after the flood menace is over. The entire flood victims then prayed for the Foundation and it’s members for God’s protection upon them.

The Foodstuffs presented to the Flood Victims at the ICE IDP Camp In Asaba by Feruk Humanitarian Foundation Included amongst others items are: 50 bags of sachet water,
Five bags of Rice, Half bag of beans, Half bag of onions,
Cabin Biscuits five Cartons,
Eight Cartons of indomie,
Three Cartons of Tin Tomatos,
Five bags of potato’s, One Cartons of Waw Soap,
One bag of salt, One bag of Maggi.
