Delta State Commissioner For Youth Development, Comrade Agbateyiniro Isaac Weyinmi, has commended the Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori On Youth Mobilization, Comrade Uyero Erarawhewho for his creativity and coming up with the initiatives of honoring 50 Delta Youth Entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-40 for their resilience and outstanding in different sectors: Politics, Education, Agriculture, Entertainment, ICT & Media, Commerce & NGO to mark the African Youth Day celebration 2023.

The Media learnt this on Wednesday, November 14, 2023 as the Office of the Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori On Youth Mobilization, Comrade Amb. Uyero Erarawhewho Jnr. with support from Delta State Ministry of Youth Development Celebrates Africa Youth Day 2023 held at Chadef Hotel, Asaba, Delta State capital.

AYD, Africa Youth Day celebration established to be celebrated every November 1st, was first adopted in 2006 through the Executive Council decision of African Union during a summit held at Banju. The day represents a unified voice of young people in African continent, aimed at creating awareness of, commitment to, and investment on Youth. A day young people commemorates their role and involvement in the development of Africa. A day of celebration of Youth and power to promote increased youth participation and partnership, to seek and promote inter-cultural exchanges among young people. Also, to reflect on mainstream as a catalyst towards harnessing demographic dividends, well refreshed to come up with innovative ideas in order to pace up continent development and transformation.

In a opening address, the Convener and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s Aide On Youth Mobilization, Comrade Ambassador Uyero Erarawhewho Jnr expressed joy and stated that he was proud to be celebrating the achievements and contributions of 50 outstanding Youth in Delta State despite the current economic challenges bedeviling the country in terms of galloping inflation rate, unemployment, and other challenges facing the Youth in Nigeria. Uyero restated his office commitment towards the mobilization of grassroots Youths for increased Political participation and governance processes. He then urged the young participants, 50 distinguished Delta Youth entrepreneurs to continue on their incredibly impacting on the society, ensuring further global networking and maintenance of the growth and development of their businesses as shining example to other Youth in Delta State.

In the remark by Delta State Commissioner For Youth Development, Comrade Agbateyiniro Isaac Weyinmi who Congratulated the 50 Delta Youth entrepreneurs as honored by the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor On Youth Mobilization for their outstanding performance and resilience in their various fields , or life endeavours. The Commissioner stated that he was impressed with Uyero as he appreciated him for his creativity, hardwork, consistency and experience on Youth matters, which regarded as the spirit of Africanism. Agbateyiniro said: “Delta State Government is willing and ready to partner, and support you in your various entrepreneurial ventures, or any Delta Youth with creative ideas that can contribute maximally to the economic growth and development of Delta State and Nigeria in general”.

Speaking further, Delta State Commissioner For Humanitarian & Community Support Services Entrepreneurship & Girl Child Development, Ms Meyiwa Orode Uduaghan, ably represented by her Special Assistant, Mrs. Ochuko Otalekor Erhunmwunsee, while congratulating those outstanding Delta Youth, stated that the office of her Boss is open for all with entrepreneurial skills. She also, urged the Youth to come up with refreshing and innovative ideas for partnership, support and sponsorship.

Other Speakers who made their remark at the event included amongst others are: Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori On Youth Mobilization, Efenudu Orevaoghene, The Delta State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), you Comrade Ambassador Kenneth Okorie ably represented by Comrade Israel Ushi as he thrilled the participants with words of encouragement and urges them to work harder and imbibe good character as one the virtues of their lifestyle so as to promote the needed positive change in the society. A clergyman used the medium to pray for more success for the entire recipients of the awards from Delta State Government, while he urged them to rescue the country from total collapse as the day marks a new dawn in their youthful contributions, outstanding and resilience in entrepreneurial skills towards nation building, sustainable, socio-economic development of Delta State and Nigeria in general.

In a separate interview with some of those outstanding Delta Youth who were honored with awards included: Ohen Esther Oriekaose, Omoro Micheal, Abraham Igbiriki, Abraham Igbiriki, Oritsejolomisan Joel, Olise Micheal, Isoko Isioma, Echewa Bright Okeoghene, Usuemerial Solomon, Okeh, Martins Abebe, Oghenekaro White, Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola, Nwachuku Chukunalu, Bieni Victor Emenike amongst others to mention but a few of them. The recipients of the awards from Delta State Government who spoke to our reporter during the event had commended the office of the Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Ambassador Uyero Erarawhewho Jnr for such creative and innovative ideas gave them recognition for their contributions in different economic sectors of the State and Nigeria in general.

The grand finale of the event saw a vote of thanks by the Vice Chairman, Delta North Chapter, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) & First Member, Delta Development & Property Authority (DDPA), Engr Yobo Ideh as he thanked the almighty God for making the event a success and commended the Delta State Hon Commissioner For Youth Development, Agbateyiniro, Office of Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori On Youth Mobilization, Comrade Ambassador Uyero Erarawhewho Jnr for their efforts in putting up such a a great program for the Youth of Delta State even as he wished those 50 outstanding Delta Youth honored by Delta State Government well and more success in their various life endeavours.
