*****Okuama IDP Management Committee: 235 Group Leaders Commend Oborevwori On Peace Initiative

The 235 Volunteer/ Support Group Leaders under the aegis of Former Presidential Campaign Management Collegiate Council (PCMC), has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his recent peace initiative to had set up “Okuama IDP Resettlement Committee” charged with the responsibilities to reintegrate; resettlement and rehabilitation of the indigenes of the Community who were displaced in the wake of the crisis as part of the Governor’s promise to Deltans in his M.O.R.E agenda policy of enhanced peace and security.
Our reporter learnt this today being on Monday, April 29, 2024 in a press statement made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital by the Secretary of Delta PCMC Directorate, Hon Prince Philip Chukwuedo Igwenewanne, Barr. Ebagwu, Coordinator/Founder, Delta My Pride Support Group For Sheriff, Hon. Anthony Okocha, Director-General, Youth Advocate 4 Good Governance, Chief Fidelis Chimokwu Ubaka, Coordinator of Unify All Nigeria 4 Atiku/Okowa & Sheriff/Onyeme, Comrade Kingsley Iweka Odiaka, The Director-General of Move On Nigeria With Atiku/Okowa & Sheriff/Onyeme, Comrade C.M.O Diei Esq., National Coordinator of Proactive Grassroots Initiative 4 Atiku/Okowa, Comrade Okocha Blessing Awele, The Director-General, Atiku 4 Good Governance (AGGN), and others as signed by the 235 Group Leaders as Pressure group leaders commend peace initiative by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on recent inauguration of Okuama IDP Management Committee.
You could recall that on the wake of the Okuama crisis which is as a result of the killing of 17 Soldiers on March 14, 2024, the innocent indigenes of the community flee for fear of being attacked by the Military. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as part of his promise to Deltans to enhance peace and security in his M.O.R.E agenda, has settled the disputes at the Presidency and top Military hierarchy as he has assured the innocent citizens of their safety.
The group leaders had lauded the Governor for visiting the people of Okuama Community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State. According to them, Governor Oborevwori as part of his Peace-building initiative, has also assured Okuama Community people of full resettlement and rehabilitation as he recently in Government House, Asaba set up Nine-Member IDP Management Committee headed by a Veteran Journalist and Former Editor of Guardian Newspaper, Abraham Ogbodo and HPM of Ughelli South LGA, Austine Emaduku serves as Secretary.
235 group leaders under the above PCMC in a release today stated that, “the 235 Group Leaders are very pleased, happy with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the recent peace move to resettle and rehabilitate the internally displaced innocent citizens of Okuama Community”.
The group leaders while Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Military and other critical Stakeholders in Peace-building sector of Delta State and Nigeria for their cooperation and support to the Governor towards the fulfilment of his administration’s top agenda on enhancing peace and security while congratulating the Nine-Member IDP Management Committee as recently set by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to reduce the sufferings of the community people.
The 235 Group leaders then described the Governor’s humanitarian efforts, Peace-building initiative and move for the resettlement and rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons in Okuama Community as a symbol of competence and capacity. The group leaders noted that, the Governor’s move is in line with global best practices.
The group leaders while thanking the Governor passed a vote of confidence on his M.O.R.E agenda policy on enhanced Peace and Security in Delta State while restating confidence on the ability of the Committee Members to deliver hundred percent in their responsibilities.
“We commend you because this peace initiative is one of your administration’s best decisions since your assumption as Governor of Delta State. We urge you to adopt that same model towards proffering solutions to some issues that needs attention as it concerns other economic sectors in the state for sustainable, socio-economic development of Delta State”, the 235 Group Leaders stated.
