UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, has applauded the leadership of United Nations on one day webinar invitation to join stakeholders, anchor a “UN Conference on Understanding Water Resilience & Safeguarding Businesses, which he said is a call to meet the demands of Global SDGs, or Agenda 2030 and address the challenges of projected that businesses will lose $390 Billion USD globally as a result of 50% shortfalls in water supply as Prof Aremu is set to speak, proffer solutions to future global water shock.

The media learnt this from United Nations’ letter to Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu today being June 12, 2024 as invitation to anchor a one day webinar on solutions to projected global Shortfalls in water supply to build long-term water resilience for businesses, which was made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital by UNESCO Laureate’s Executive Assistant On Media, Publicity and Communication Matters, Comrade Sir Bieni Victor Emenike as Aremu commends United Nations on international conference initiative.

Water Resilience means those characteristics in a water system. It is the ability of socio-ecological systems to weather, recover from water related shocks and stresses such as draught, flooding, storm surges, pollution, earthquake and other adverse effects of climate change towards improved strategies, recover, and promote adaptability in the face of water scarcity and uncertain future as posed by shortage of water supply globally.

The letter from United Nations reads in parts : “Hi UNESCO Laureate Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, this is a reminder that your webinar will begin in 1 day: ‘Understanding water resilience to safeguard and accelerate business’. Date & Time: Jun 13, 2024 04:00 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada)”.

“Description: It is projected that there will be a 50% shortfall in water supply by 2030 – severely impacting the direct operations and value chains of businesses everywhere. According to water data disclosed by companies, over $390 billion USD is already at risk. Businesses must be dynamic and identify appropriate approaches to address water-related shocks and stresses”.
