A leading International Non-governmental Organization globally reputed for its constant advocacy with special focus on the thematic areas of transparency, accountability, good governance and Community development in the Niger-Delta Region, Social Development Integrated Centre (SOCIAL ACTION), has congratulated Hon. Umana Okon Umana on his appointment as the new Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

The media learnt this in a press statement as signed by the Programmes Coordinator, Social Development Integrated Centre (SOCIAL ACTION), Botti Isaac, today being on Tuesday, 2nd day of August, 2022, which was made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital attested to Hon. Umana’s Competence to address the present rot in Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Social Action leadership stated that, the group is extremely excited about Hon. Umana Okon Umana’s well-deserved appointment, while describing the new Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs as an astute administrator with a proven record of hard work, dedication, discipline, and success.

The Niger-Delta based International Non-governmental Organization noted further that, there is no doubt that Hon. Umana will bring this competence to bear in ensuring that the much-expected transformation of the Niger Delta region is achieved, while counting on his past achievements as the Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority as well as Hon. Umana’s proven track record as an ardent reformer and a man of goodwill.

Social Action, therefore calls on Hon. Umana Okon Umana to see to it that, “the people of the Niger Delta region who have suffered years of stagnated infrastructural growth and general human development benefit from his administration.

The statement reads in parts: “We appeal to his administration to not only rekindle the people’s hope but ensure that the region receives commensurate development. We call on Hon. Umana Okon Umana to use his good office as the Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to ensure that the NDDC receives the deserved attention and that corruption in the system is eliminated and a substantive board is put in place to pilot the affairs of the Commission”.

“We hope that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) would be repositioned for accountability and improved and effective service delivery under the watch of Hon. Umana Okon Umana.
