Mr Anthony Awunor, The CEO, Erec Communications Ltd, Publishers of Ubulu-Ezemu (News Online, Magazine) has described the recipients of Ubulu-Ezemu 2022 awards as home builders, community enhancers, society lifters, icons of our times, trendsetters and icons of honor as he urged them to continue to blaze the trail, while commending the contributions of the awardees towards human capital development, most importantly the development of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Anioma Nation, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
The media learnt this in a separate interview with multiple award-winning Journalist and Publisher of Ubulu-Ezemu News Online, who doubles as the convener of Ubulu-Ezemu Awards 2022, Mr. Anthony Awunor on Christmas day, December 25, 2022 at Viva Hotel, Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State as he thanked the awardees, for honoring the invitation, coming to receive the awards for their positive contributions to community development.
Speaking to some group of Journalists awunor harped on the need for society to cultivate the attitude of honoring those individuals who had contributed to community development, positively impacted on lives so as to inspire, motivate them to do more. According to him, ” the selected Ubulu-Ezemu 2022 awardees from Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Anioma Nation are liken to teachers whose rewards should not only be in heaven but on earth for their sheer patriotism, forthrightness, diligence, sacrifice, role models and shinning lights in their respective domains”.

Prior to the award ceremony proper during the event, Major General Raymond Ochei in a goodwill message presented on behalf of his wife, Dr. Mrs Doris Amaka Nwaefulu Ochei, who was one of the Awardees, the Army General who described his wife who was honored as “Best Philanthropist Woman of the year 2022” as a gift from God and a credit to Ubulu-Uku Kingdom.
He then thanked the convener, Mr. Anthony Awunor, organizers and Ubulu-Uku people for honoring his wife for her efforts in community development. He noted that Ubulu-Uku kingdom used to be a reference point in terms of Culture, values, unity, love and peace and other unifying factors in Anioma Nation as he enjoined them, the entire Anioma Nation to revert back to cultural values of their forefathers.
He cited the unity, love and peace that existed in Anioma Nation in the days of his forefathers that helped them to excel using the imagery and symbolic “Ekumeku Movement” Anioma Warlords in 17th, 18th century, which said “Ochei” his forefathers was one of the major think-tank then. He said that his father told him that in those days, people do come from different parts of Africa, East Africa to Anioma Nation; particularly Kenya in 1900 to seek advice on best strategies, ways to execute wars as he advised Anioma people not to allow their unifying values fade away.
Mr. Ifechukwude Ezinwa, one of the award recipients, who bagged award as the “Ubulu-Uku Ambassador of the year 2022”, the Acting Director, Human Resources Operations, Recruitment, And Clients Services of the African Development Bank (AfDB), while speaking commended the words of wisdom, advice from Major General Raymond Ochei. He said: “By Association, extension now from what you have told us, you have also become one of the indigenes of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom”.
Group Captain Samuel Akaraiwe while speaking at the event also expressed joy over the posthumous award bestowed on his late younger brother, Late Iwegbunam Edward Akaraiwe honoured as the “Hero of the year 2022”, who was the most disciplined, longest serving Principal of St Anthony’s College, Ubulu-Uku as other awardees in a separate interview with newsmen promised to continue to contribute to human capital and community development for Socio-economic, Cultural development of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Anioma Nation, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
