Prof. Alex O. Akpodiete is the CEO/ Senior Cybersecurity Analyst & Researcher for Atawa Technologies LLC, with offices in US, Dubai UAE, and Abuja Nigeria.
His work focuses on issues of end-user education, data science, data protection/cybersecurity, pen testing, ethical hacking (red, blue, purple teams), cyber forensics and compliance for organizations.
His research interests include cybersecurity leadership challenges, data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, prevention of ransomware and effective use of data science in enterprise security. He is also responsible for developing and running certification trainings, executive courses, workshops, and high-level conferences internationally.
Prof. Akpodiete holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD – Law) from the University of Miam School of Law, Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Mt. St.
Mary’s University, a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Florida State University, an Associates in Applied Science degree with high honors in Cybersecurity from Frederick Community College.
He is completing a second doctorate – PhD in Cybersecurity Leadership from Capitol Technology University. He is also a graduate of US Institute of Peace (USIP), Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) and Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS).
Additionally, Prof. Akpodiete holds several industry certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, ITIL, PMP, Security+, Network+ and CASP+ (the highest global cybersecurity certification from CompTIA).
He is currently Professor of Cybersecurity and Cyber Forensics at a US University and consulting in the Middle East on a cybersecurity and leadership contract. Prior to ATAWA TECHNOLOGIES, he practiced law for 16 years, was a Professor of Intelligence and Security Studies, Adjunct Professor of Business Law & Ethics, Systems Analyst for PWC, Computer Programmer for the State of Florida, Sub-contractor for US government contractors on ICT projects, Curriculum Evaluator for the State of Maryland Higher Education Commission on Cybersecurity and Internet of Things (IoT) programs, Participant as expert on curriculum roundtables, Contributor to the US Department of Labor’s National Occupational Information Network O*NET, and Instructional Specialist on a multi-million- dollar US government technology workforce grant.
