UNESCO laureate and Vice-Chancellor, Crown University, USA, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, has Commended the Leadership of United Nations Global Compact, United Nations Office On Drugs & Crime (UNDOC) on the recent, just concluded International Conference on Business Integrity to proffer solutions to the challenges, and provide opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to address gender dimensions of business integrity as well as towards building a formidable team, movement for sustainable companies that will accelerate action on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In a statement by VC CUICI, USA today being on Wednesday October 25, 2023 which was made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital by UNESCO Laureate’s Executive Assistant On Media, Publicity and Communication Matters, Sir Bieni Victor Emenike as Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu tasks United Nations, UNDOC, Stakeholders on exploration of Gender dimensions of Business Integrity.
According to UNESCO Laureate, United Nations Global Compact Academy set out objectives are to ensure that companies align their strategies and operations with the universal principles as related to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and take actions that advance societal goals and implementation of SDGs.
He added that UNDOC, United Nations Office On Drugs & Crime is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international Crime, in addition being responsible for implementing the United Nations lead programme on terrorism.
The essence of the insightful program which UNESCO Laureate,Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu was one of the invited Guest Speakers at the event as held on 19th October, 2023 explored how companies can integrate business integrity strategies, fostering a workplace marked by integrity , transparency and gender diversity.
CUICI VC while expressing optimism over the development on his invitation and success of the conference às organized by United Nations Global Compact Academy & UNDOC, UNESCO Laureate then urged groups, stakeholders to explore the benefits of Gender dimensions of Business Integrity. According to him, the initiatives will give room towards the fulfillment of UN Global Compact Academy, UNDOC mission & vision so as to promote Business Integrity, fight against illicit drugs, serious and organized crimes or United Nations lead programme on terrorism.
Reacting further, Aremu stated: “As one of the stakeholders in Global SDGs or Agenda 2030 attainment by all countries of the world, I must commend your invitation and initiative towards the attainment of Agenda 2030. I hereby urge all stakeholders to work towards promoting diversity, inclusion and equity to strengthen business integrity in the workplace”.
“Also, business integrity ensures the conduct of business practices by following moral, and ethical framework; build a culture of commitment, honesty and respect. The initiative will promote timely attainment of Agenda 2030 or global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
