The new leadership of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Delta has familiarized with the Nigerian Police Force, Delta State Command as group Commend CP Abaniwonda Smart Olufemi for promoting peace and security in the State within the shortest possible time of his posting to Delta State Police Command as the new Delta State Commissioner of Police.
Prince Henry Eze (JP),the Delta IPAC Chairman alongside his entire Executives in Delta State paid a courtesy call to Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Abaniwonda Smart Olufemi earlier this week on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 to seek cooperation of the Nigerian Police as party leaders, critical stakeholders in the State towards promoting Political stability.
Recall that recently a new IPAC leadership emerged after a rigorous contest that took place at INEC office, Asaba where the Chairman of Allied People’s Movement (APM) was elected as Chairman of Delta IPAC.
Prince Eze,in his address during the visit reminded the Commissioner that IPAC- is the umbrella body of all 19 Registered Political Parties in Nigeria. It also serves as an advisory body to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Stating further, the IPAC Boss told the Police Commissioner, CP Abaniwonda that they are partners in progress with the Nigerian Police as party leaders and critical stakeholders in the State and that IPAC will continue to work with the command towards promoting peace and security in Delta State.
In the words of Delta IPAC Boss: “We have come to introduce our new IPAC Executives and familiarize with you. We must commend your show of Professionalism, great expertise, excellent in Policing operations and discharge of your duties as the newly posted Commissioner in Delta State. We need more cooperation from your command. We restate commitment towards working with the Police in promoting peace and security in the State”. We frowned at the recent Crisis that erupted in the State capital 2weeks ago that claimed some lives even as we commend the Nigeria Police for the roles they played in restoring peace and order. We also urge the Police to be more professional in discharge of their duties in the state”.
Responding to the Leadership of Delta IPAC,the Commissioner of Police,CP Abaniwonda congratulated the new Executives of IPAC in Delta State on their emergence while he promised to work with them not only as party leaders, but as critical stakeholders in the State. He then commended the roles played by IPAC in various elections held in Nigeria as well as promoting political stability in the country. He however highlited on the remote cause of the recent Crisis that we experienced in the State Capital and promised that his men will always be on top of such situations.
The grand finale of the visit was a vote of thanks by Deputy Chairman of IPAC, Comrade Simon Obowore as he commended the Delta Police Commissioner for the opportunity given to them to visit his office despite his busy schedules while stating that IPAC will continue to work with the Command as partners in progress.
