********Former NIDOE Boss Highlights Expectations of Deltans in 2025

By Victor Bieni, Asaba

As part of New Year 2025 season’s greetings to Delta State Government which reflects on expectations of Deltans, the Deputy National Chairman, African Democratic Congress (ADC) and 2023 Delta North senatorial candidate, Hon. Dr. Chibuogwu Gbandi has enjoined Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on equitable governance.

Ex-NIDOE Boss made this remark today being Saturday, January 4, 2024 in a Media chat with some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital as he sends special New Year Message to Delta State Government, reflects on the expectations of Deltans in 2025.

While commenting on Delta State political leadership, he commended the immediate past Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on infrastructural development, while he urged the current Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori take the lead on all-inclusive, equitable governance as well as work on closing some Roads infrastructural development lapses left in some parts of Delta North-Aniocha, Ndokwa and Oshimili by his predecessor, former governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Gbandi noted that, the expectations of Deltans from Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori in 2025 is to maintain even distribution of wealth and support to most vulnerable citizens as he shed light on the challenges and opportunities ahead for Delta State. In his words: “I, Dr. Gbandi, the former chairman and board of trustees member of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Europe, commends Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his notable achievements in infrastructure, particularly in road construction, earning him the nickname “roadmaster”.

“I acknowledged the socioeconomic benefits of improved road networks in areas such as the Agbor and Ukwuani axis but noted that sadly, this progress was unevenly distributed. Neglected regions, including parts of Ndokwa, Aniocha, especially Oko areas and in Oshimili around Ezi, Obomkpa axis, serve as a reminder of the gaps in Okowa’s infrastructural legacy. Immediate Past Governor Okowa’s vice-presidential ambition and focus on controlling the PDP structure in the state in the later part of his tenure detracted from his governance”.

“These political moves created not only divisions but undermined goodwill, leaving a mixed legacy of commendable achievements and unfulfilled expectations. Looking ahead, I, Dr. Gbandi hereby State that, there is high expectations placed on Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, whose administration is still at an early stage to make any conclusion”.

“As the current governor of Delta State, Oborevwori has a unique opportunity to address the shortcomings of his predecessor while charting his own path of inclusive development. Deltans are eager for signature projects that will not only elevate the state’s infrastructure but also ensure balanced development across all regions. In this New Year 2025, I hereby advocate for equitable governance which will be the hallmark of Oborevwori’s success”.

” Also, I enjoin Governor Oborevwori to rise to the occasion and deliver on all his promises in 2025. Although ADC was the first political party to endorse the Governor and his running mate. The Governor and his Deputy promised all- inclusive government, unfortunately that promise is yet to be fulfilled. The Governor must work to ensure that Delta State is not at crossroads. Okowa’s tenure is a reminder of the potential for impactful governance, it also highlights the pitfalls of uneven implementation and political distractions”.

“As Deltans look to the future, the clock is ticking for Oborevwori to seize the opportunity to lead with vision and integrity, leaving a legacy that resonates with all. The above underscores the importance of accountable leadership and the need for a governance model that prioritizes the collective well-being of Delta State. As the state embarks on a new chapter in 2025, the hope is that, its leaders will rise to the challenges and deliver the transformative change Deltans deserve”.
